Obstacle Limitation Surfaces (OLS)

Aerodrome Safeguarding is the procedure by which the protected airspace surrounding an airport is managed and whenever possible kept obstacle free. To assist the airport staff involved in the safeguarding process we offer support in the form of service for airport/heliport with precise Geo-Design Annexes software for developing the Obstacle Limitation Surfaces. the steps that should be put in place to ensure a successful relationship with the Planning Authorities and the use of specialist software to make the assessments.

One of the most critical issues for aircraft aviation is to preserve the safety and security of daily travel. In order to ensure safe takeoff and landing of aircraft it is essential to ensure that specified areas around each airport are free of obstacles or limited with international criteria for establishing standards, recommendations and guidelines related to the international operation of civil aircraft.

Obstacle limitation surfaces are intended to define the airspace around aerodrome and limits to which the objects may project into this airspace around airports. International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) provides guidelines through Annex-14 in controlling the obstacles, whereas States may also establish their own legislation according to its requirements.
